Die Fl\u00e4che des Festlandes betr\u00e4gt 56,538 km2 und die der dazugeh\u00f6renden K\u00fcstengew\u00e4sser 31.900 km2. Laut der Volksz\u00e4hlung von 2001 hat Kroatien ca. 4,5 Mio. Einwohner, wovon 1 Mio. in der Hauptstadt Zagreb leben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Istrien, die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Halbinsel an der Adria (3.160 km2), umgeben vom warmen Mittelmeer und tief eingebettet zwischen Alpen und Dinar-Gebirge ist somit ein nat\u00fcrlicher Zugang, das Tor zur Adria. Unter dem Einfluss des Mittelmeeres sind die Winter ohne Schnee und die Sommer lang, sonnig und warm. Istrien z\u00e4hlt zu den sonnigsten Oasen Europas. Es wird vom 45. Breiten- und 14. L\u00e4ngengrad durchquert. W\u00fcrde man sich Istrien von oben anschauen, k\u00f6nnte man drei charakteristische Gebietsformen erkennen: das \u201ewei\u00dfe\u201c, \u201edas graue\u201c und das \u201erote Istrien\u201c. Die Gliederung, Formenvielfalt, immergr\u00fcne Vegetation, bestellte Felder und die harmonische Anordnung der st\u00e4dtischen Siedlungen formen zusammen diese malerische Landschaft Istriens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funtana liegt an einem gottgegebenen Fleckchen Erde, dessen K\u00fcste vom blauen Meer der Adria umsp\u00fclt wird. Auf dem europ\u00e4ischen Kontinent ist es das n\u00e4chstgelegene warme Meer, mit den typischen Ger\u00fcchen und Farben des Mittel\u00admeers. Auch k\u00f6nnen sich die Urlauber im kroatischen Teil der Adria im saubersten Wasser des Mittelmeerraumes baden. In Funtana wird der Gast eine wundersch\u00f6n geformte K\u00fcste mit zahllosen Buchten, Inseln und Felsen vorfinden, die den Ort so weit das Auge reicht umspannen. Zudem verf\u00fcgt das Meer hier \u00fcber eine ausgesprochen \u00fcppige Flora und Fauna. Das Klima? Das Klima ist mild, mediterran, mit einer durchschnittlichen Temperatur im Januar, dem k\u00e4ltesten Monat, von +5\u00b0 C und im August, dem w\u00e4rmsten Monat, von +28\u00b0 C. Sowohl im Winter als auch im Sommer sind die N\u00e4chte angenehm, man zittert weder vor K\u00e4lte noch bedr\u00fcckt feuchte Hitze. Die Badesaison dauert von Mai bis Oktober. Dieses au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnliche Klima spielte bei der Entwicklung des Fremdenverkehrs mit einer entsprechend gro\u00dfen Besucherzahl eine wichtige Rolle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An der Westk\u00fcste Istriens werden etwa 2000 Sonnenstunden im Jahr gez\u00e4hlt, oft begleitet von einem k\u00fchlenden Wind. Man unterscheidet hier zwischen der Bora, dem S\u00fcdwind oder Schirokko und dem Maestral.
