The Tourist Board of Funtana proudly announces the 11th Grmali Feast, which will take place on Saturday, September 20, at the Funtana waterfront. This unique event, recognized not only in Istria but also beyond, has become a hallmark of the town. The Grmali Feast celebrates our local delicacy – brodet od grmali, a dish rich in history and tradition in Funtana. Once considered food for the poor, grmali are now a true seafood delicacy. This year’s feast offers a rich gastronomic experience: in addition to brodet od grmali, visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes at themed food stands. Local restaurateurs will prepare fish starters such as cod, salted and marinated anchovies, octopus and cuttlefish salads, as well as fish specialties from white and blue fish, squid, shellfish, frito misto, cuttlefish stew, and brodet made from blue crabs.
A special part of the program begins at 4 PM, when children will showcase their culinary skills by preparing brodet od grmali according to the traditional recipe. At the same time, there will be a presentation of the blue crabs. All activities will take place at the children’s stand “Grmalić. The women’s association Loza will offer various homemade cakes at the “Sweet Corner.”
